DCFS generally has 60 days from the date of the report to decide whether to indicate or unfound the allegation.
If the allegation is indicated, DCFS may put a safety plan in place rather than take any further action. An indicated finding is serious, but it is not the same as losing your children.
A person who is indicated has the right to appeal that finding. Appeal deadlines are short, so read the letter carefully the day you receive it.
